Funny thing is..I still have a closet full of clothes…

It started like any other day…

I stumbled into the house at 2 AM after going out on the town with my friend Rachael…

Slept til about 11..got up, ate some leftover poppyseed chicken, fell back asleep around 1.

Woke up again at around 3. Decided to get online and check my dailys…Read a few political articles.

Got a phone call at 4:30 that included an OFFER FOR A FULL TIME INTERNSHIP IN NYC!!!!

You heard it right kids, my DREAM internship has been handed to me. Not only will I be working on the 15th floor in a FIFTH AVENUE office building…but I will be getting PAID to do so! I have landed the rarest of all internships! I feel like I have won the lottery.

Seriously, you have no idea the weight that has been lifted off my shoulders. I will officially be a New Yorker come June 5!! THREE WEEKS!

If you are in town..and read this before midnight…feel free to drop by the house for a celebratory margarita. It will just be mother, myself, and a couple of my friends are coming over..after that its off the the V.F.W. (haha)

WOOOOOOOOO!

So I’ve moved back home. The next 23 days at home will prove to be as big of a challenge as the last few weeks of school I’m sure. (Sorry mom).

We have moved all my stuff from school into my bedroom, and I must say its astounding how much crap I have accumulated over the last 23 years. My room here was already half full of stuff that I never took to school, now its overflowing. Luckily most of it is now organized into totes so you can’t see all the useless junk. I have been going through stuff today, pitching what I could go a month without. I have already filled two 40 gallon trash bags. I won’t finish today.

I should have my internship plans finalized by the beginning of next week. Should being the magic word here.. But I will be sure to let them be known when it’s time.

I spent Saturday in the Lou and watched the Cards get romped on by the Cubbies..

But I guess winning two out of three aint bad. Especially for a team that noone thought would win more than 50 games this season, and with a majority of its lineup the average minor-leaguer…Salt in the wound Cubs fans??

Surprisingly, and you may shat yourself when I admit this, but I just might miss Southern Illinois. Sure, it will be nice to be somewhere that doesn’t reek of protestant conservatism, but there are a few good qualities the So IL brings to the table. Mainly…

The wine! Mmm sweet (or dry) SO IL wine with a chicken salad on croissant and potato salad. I cant think of a better way to spend the Sunday afternoon!

One of Southern Illinois’ hidden gems. The Blue Sky Vineyard. They have the best Chambourcin that will ever grace your palette.

So I am beginning to rethink the whole “three totes is all I am taking with me when I move” idea. The logistics of pulling off a stunt like that are simply impossible. 6 more days in the Dirty!

That’s right kiddies. Tuesday April 29, 2008; officially my last day as an undergraduate student! Granted my graduation isn’t for another two weeks, I will have officially completed my bachelor’s degree as of 6 PM Central Standard Time.

New York is in 39 days. Potentially less, I may be leaving sooner to spend some “free time” in the city. It will most likely just be a few days

Last weekend, the student organization I am involved in, American Advertising Federation, placed 2nd in our district competition in Detroit. There were 18 schools represented. We would have appreciated a 1st, but were proud of our accomplishment. 1st place finish gets you a trip to the national competition this summer and an amazing opportunity to network with hundreds of professionals. We decided 2nd would suffice because it meant we no longer had to spend 20 hours a week working on the project, and it wouldn’t cut into our summer (not to mention our pocketbooks). Then we got drunk. Very.

Thanks to my bank and its point system on my debit card, I was able to redeem my points for a couple Best Buy gift cards. It took no time at all for me to spend them. I bought the new Mario Kart game for the Wii and let me just say if you own a Wii you must purchase this game. It is probably one of the most anticipated games of all time on this system. And its worth your $50. I highly recommend.

I mentioned previously that I am reading A New Earth. Oprah could not have picked a worse time for me to read this book. I have only read two more chapters since I last posted. School, work, and AAF have taken over my life and after today I hope to get back into it. I am still finding it fascinating. A more in depth review will follow.

A New Earth

So I have taken Oprah’s (and my mother’s) advice, and began reading Eckhart Tolle’s “A New Earth”. I am four chapters in, and enjoying it so far. It is a very interesting read and I will admit there have been sections I have had to go back and read a second time just to make sense out of it. But so far, I would recommend this book to anyone looking for something more than a Lonesome Dove novel. It might go on my list of books I think every person should read..time will tell.

I’ll give a final review once I’m finished.

Well, I have returned to a somewhat normal schedule. Spring break came and NFB had to get away, he spent the week in Florida..wishes he was still there but realizes that it was time to come back and finish the last lap of what they call higher education.

Coming down to the wire here folks, and I have never been busier. Unfortunately NFB has this innate desire to please people (hahaha) and sometimes bites off a little more than he can chew. This is going to be a busy week, so don’t expect any more updates from me (not that you would have anyway at the rate things are going).

I am in the middle of my summer internship search. Looking forward to finding where I will be working for no pay for two months. New York City is 78 days away! (For those of you that don’t know, I am going to NYC this summer, leaving June 8, returning whenever). I will be sure to let you know as soon as I find out where I’ll be employed

The notion that I will soon be moving somewhere and beginning what they call a career has got me thinking about all the stuff I own, or have acquired, during the few years I have been on this earth. More importantly, it has got me thinking about what a bitch it’s going to be to pack everything up and haul it across the country. My big “plan” with this transition in my life has always been to move somewhere where I know few or no people, so that I can in some way, “reinvent” myself. (You’ve heard this before). I’m starting to wonder if that will be possible if tagging along in a trailer behind me is all the junk that I had in my previous self. Granted, it shouldn’t be the things we own that define us (that was for you, mother), but for myself they can be.

Sure, there’s plenty I will trash. The 3 years of cable, internet, and electric bills I have stuffed in a folder that I for some reason feel the need to hold onto. Or along the same lines, every single credit card statement I have received since I got my first credit card 4 years ago. (Why am I keeping this stuff, nonsense!!!) The books I’ve read shall be given to someone else. The clothes I’ve worn shall be donated to charity. (If I am going to reinvent myself, I will be needing a new wardrobe, or else I might as well forget it. Lookout Ralph Lauren!!!)

I am contemplating buying 3 or 4 totes and telling myself that I am only taking with me what I can fit inside. That was not an invitation to hold me accountable to this, merely a moment of me thinking out loud.

Well, I have pretty much rambled on here with no real point or reason. Other than the fact I needed a break from homework. It might be a late night.

Authors Note: After rereading this post, I realized what an abrupt ending it came to, I’ll admit I took a break from writing and went to RalphLauren.com haha, so I had somewhat lost my train of thought and believed that I had said enough. Sorry.
